Heh.
Some paperwork later, I had one 16", two 20", and a 26" stainless on order. Yay!
And then, not so much.
Ten months later, the 16" showed up. I put a F4 prototype (just an F2 blown out to .308 dimensions) on it and ran a few magazines...enough to be excited about the project...and then boxed the darn thing up and shipped it to the frozen tundra home of Junior, never to be seen again (the rifle, that is). Fred's (and my own) rifles must be on the way!
Right...
Another ten months goes by, and two 20" black rifles with two-piece handguards showed up. Fearless Fred was on his like drool on a bulldog, but the other 20" left me dreaming of free float tubes so I sold it to a friend who seemed darn happy to have it.
More waiting...
Three months later, a box with my gun it in arrived. Yay! And...damn, an eleven and half pound rifle WITHOUT optics, with the handling characteristics of a rather large brick.

Hmm...armed only with a sharp knife (and some tools...and some more tools...and friends with tools)...
Something old (vintage M16 grip), something new (ACE stock and McTrigger), something whittled (Wilson .940 26" barrel turned down to .750 and cut back to 20", straight fluted under the handguard, spiral fluted between the new gas block and the F4 prototype), and something way expensive (IOR 2-12 illuminated and a Burkett-mounted Pride Fowler red dot)...with the optics, ten pounds five ounces. Much better!
Now where did I stash those 30 round FN mags from about 22 months ago when I started this project...
I have no idea what it is for, but it shoots well enough
Alex
