What are you all using to remove moly rersidue from the barrel? I have always used hoppes but it seems to not be working all that well on moly. Thanks

Odorless mineral spirits. About $11-12 for a gallon at home Depot or Lowes. Use it for just about everything else that gets gunky.

What powder??? I shoot Moly over Solo 1000, and Hoppes does the trick for me. I drop the whole barrel in hoppes, and let it soak for a few minutes while I clean the rest of the gun. Pull it out, one brush with the brass, 3-4 swabs with cloth, then one final wipe with CLP.

Dear ATF,
Since guns are so dangerous, I threw all of mine in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday. If you're here to collect mine, I don't have any. Thanks for stopping by.

Blue Wonder does a great job on moly. Come to think of it I should set some time aside this year to clean that thing....nah.

With BBI's and N310 I don't get any residue (though honestly I wouldn't clean it even if I did).

That's what I uses. Just right after shooting while the barrel is still warm, I will run bore snake with Kroil for about 3x's.

My usual M-Pro 7 gets it out pretty well.
Kroil is good, too; but remember with chemistry, time is your friend. Let it soak.

Yeah, I would like to find some kind of little tray to lay my barrel in and let it soak. I am loading the moly's over solo1000. I'll pick something up this weekend.

I have a tall skinny olive jar full of the benchrest blend of Shooter's Choice and Kroil for soaking. Holds a 5" auto barrel and doesn't take too much solvent to fill. I pre-clean the barrel to get out the worst to make my soaking bottle last longer.

I used to have a recipe that was given to me by a friend that was a Benchrest shooter. I can't find it but it seemed like it was 4 oz. of Shooters Choice and 2 oz. of Kroil. Is that close to what you use?

I used the Vinegar and Proxide and wound up buying a new barrel, I guess not all stainless stell is created equal.. It pits the barrel if you leave it in too long.

Since that expierence I use a choreboy and a little jb bore paste. The jb bore paste polishes the inside of the barrel and as it smooths out the build up gets less and less over time.

Not all barrels can shoot moly without build up, I tried it in a couple CZ's and a Sig its not happening. My STI's shoot them fine. My 45 Kart Match barrel has no build up at all shooting Clays with 200 gr precision.

The moly comes out easy its the lead that takes a little work.
