So, this is what happened. I was perfectly content shooting Limited, but wondered what it would be like to shoot a dot, since I used a dot years ago on my Bianchi gun. A close friend of mine wants a bicycle I have and has offered me a Para lower that was once a open gun. He had moved the upper to another gun and then sold it. The lower is already drilled for a scope mount and has a great trigger job. So I guess I would need a slide, barrel, comp., dot sight, and a build. Should I collect the parts and then find a gunsmith, or should I find a gunsmith, send the lower and have him complete it? I've seen much talk about gunsmiths for 2011's, but what about for a Para build? If I go with 38 super I have plenty of brass left over from my Bianchi stuff.

Any gunsmith that does 2011's can do Para's as well. Give Benny a call at Triangle Shooting Sports. He can set you up with a great shooting open gun. You might want to look around for some mags first. That may be the only draw back to using a Para frame.

Thanks. I had only seen Benny/Brazo's mentioned with the 2011. There are 8 mags that come with the lower, so that won't be the deciding factor.

I shot open last year and enjoyed it. The problem is I've shot open sights for so long I have a hard time changing index for red dot. And my red dot is a slide rider. It's coming but I need a few sight pictures before the buzzer. Don't think I'd ever master a C More.

Hello: You need to try the Quinn II mount. It makes the transition to open alot easier. I can see the dot and the slide move very easy with both eyes open. I can even index off the slide just like a limited pistol but see the dot as well. Does that make sense? Give Benny a call since he has worked on the Paras way back when they first came out. Thanks, Eric

I agree with everyone's recommendations, anything Benny Hill does is magical! With that said, Rich at Canyon Creek Custom is also an incredible gunsmith as well. He knows how to work with the Para's and can tune your mag catch to accept S_I mags. I bought all the parts from Shooter's Connection, had Beven Grams mount and work the Docter and sent it his way. He has my Para and is 99% done with it (see pic below). Great guy and very informative. You will not go wrong with Rich or any of the other gunsmiths suggested.
