A buddy of mine uses the Aimpoint 3X with a Larue swing away mount. He likes the setup, but, normally shoots shorter range matches. He does fairly well out to 300 yards, against MGM flashers. He did mention that the dot looks "J" shaped with the magnifier in place.
You did ask about others than the Burris.

There are some made in China knock offs I am starting to see at gunshows and the quality is pretty good for about $100.00. The last ones I saw did not come with a swing away mount but neither do the others. I would not want one of these for serious work but for a match they should be gtg.
Eotech makes a 3x which you can find for mid $300s. They also market a 4x for over $600. Keep in mind the 3x is actually 3.25x and the 4x is 3.75x making the difference between the two a heck of a lot for half a power.

I use the Eotech tripler at work Trapr but I am getting a new tripler now to test out. The tripler is simple and easy to use. I use the flip side mount to keep the 3x out of the way on close environment needs. The one knock I have so far is the red reticle moves a little in the tripler. By moves I mean it is moved to a slightly different location within the tripler such as a little higher and right.

If you want to shoot optics though, you'll be hamstringing yourself ( IMHO )with this set up at matches where there is both long (relatively) distance and less than ideal target definition.

But Bryan you can relax, its not for me!!!! I have new shooting buddy that uses an EOTech and I think for now it would be an easier transition than just jumping into a scope. As for the LaRue PoBoy special they used to have I looked earlier and it did not show up on the website, I may have to call and see if they have any hidden on a back shelf.

I've got a Burris Tripler behind a Holosight, the glass is pretty clear but the eye relief is quite short. It has windage and elevation controls to center the primary optic reticle and, importantly for me, it has a focus ring to sharpen up that reticle. All in all it works OK and it's a pretty good price.
