While cleaning/inspecting my open gun after a match, I noticed wear marks on the slide. If you were looking down the bore of the slide, the wear mark is at 12 o'clock. I reassembled the gun. There is a gap between the comp and the slide while in battery. When the barrel unlocks and tilts down the comp is contacting the slide at the top. I looked at my 2 other open guns. One of these touches and one does not.

Is this an issue? Long term effects?

Thanks

Contact between the comp and slide will inhibit the barrel/slide's ability to unlock. Some folks cut the front of the slide at approx. a 1 degree angle to prevent this. Instead of cutting the slide, I cut the comp.

It hasn't caused any problems yet.

Should I go through the process to fix this, or just shoot it.

I just wonder if there are any long term effects.

Thanks

If it's just barely rubbing, then I can't think of any long term effects except for maybe a little rub/peen spot developing on the slide or comp. I'd have to see it. If it's barely touching, probably just forget about it.
