I've decided that I want to try out an STS red dot on my open. Since no one makes exactly the mount I want I've decided to make my own. I took some measurments from one of the SV 3 piece carbon fiber mounts and it appears as though there's a slight downward pitch to the front of the Cmore platform in relation to the mounting holes/ bore axis. Can anyone confirm that? Does anyone know if the other Cmore mounts on the market are manufactured with a downward pitch at the front? Do I need to do this,or can I accomplish it with the elevation adjustment on the STS? Any info that can be offered would be helpful.

I made a couple STS mounts. See below. One is not completely finished yet. They are still available if you are interested.

Regarding the forward pitch, I have not seen that particular mount. However, the pitch forward is probably designed in to reduce the distance between the line between the bore and the line between the sight. Pitching the mount forward a little will make those two lines converge sooner. Since the 1911/2011 slide also pitches forward a little, I usually just make my scope mount parallel to the top of the slide.

The pitch forward can be compensated for with the scope, however, you will lose some vertical travel in the scope.

PS: The mount on the left was the first prototype. I wanted to use all 5 holes in my gun. I didn't like the look of the little leg that reached out for the 5th hole. The mount on the right is the improved version. It places the STS just a tad bit forward of the front of the ejection port.

PSS: I also still have the STS Scope for sale as well, if anyone is interested. Sorry for the plug.

What's wrong with the Arredondo mount?

I've also made a few docter mounts, taking the cmore mounts in the market as an example.

The reason that I'm making my own STS mount is that I wish to utilize all five holes that are already drilled in the SV frame. That, and the fact that I enjoy making my own simple parts for my guns. I contacted one of the mount makers and was told that they routinely design a one degree negetive angle into their mounts. Thanks for your help.
