Hey all,
I've now had 3 slide stop springs break in the course of about 4 month's. The slide stop is installed correctly (ie: locking block pin in first, then the slide stop so that the spring is under the pin, and then the trigger pin), so the spring is under the locking block pin as it should be.
However, I've now had a few of them break and I haven't been able to find a place to buy just the spring (i've had to buy the whole slide stop).
Any suggestions on what's causing this? Any ideas on where to buy just the spring?
Thanks,
Z-

They're only sold as an assembly from what I can tell. I've broken one in ten years of shooting a Glock. I'm assuming that we're talking a factory part? Order replacements from someone else --- in case it's a bad batch of parts?

If the slide stop lever is in correctly if will move about ~1/16" both forward and backwards. If it doesn't the lever is not in the trigger pin groove. It's all I can think of without seeing the gun.

Good point Jim...might be sitting just outside that groove. I just checked the one I put in....it's sitting nicely with small movement forward/back. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.
After looking at the other broken springs....they all seem to have broken in about the same spot and it looks like it's right where it contacts the pin. We'll see what happens with the latest one I just put in.
I also tried fashioning a spring from a paper clip. It's a bit thicker than the current spring, but seems like it'll work. I'll let you all know.

I don't know. I understand your frustration. I have broken this spring before, but only when doing something like putting the pins in wrong and then bending it, or using a hammer when I got frustrated. Or clipping it a in a vise grip and dropping it while cleaning. I have never had one break while shooting. It is very similar to light piano wire-that might work. Paper clip metal is so soft... When I first saw this post , I was perplexed. Maybe Jman has the answer.
