Just received a Skinnergram from STI announcing they are taking orders for the upcoming 5" version of the GP6 and GP6-C.
A little more sight radius is a good thing.

October 27, 2009SkinnErgram #118Hi Guys,

New introductions that will be available prior to the SHOT Show are the Escort, Guardian, and Off Duty in .40S&W. No price change for the caliber differences even though the magazines are more expensive. We'll also be able to provide the GP6 & GP6-C with a 5" barrel. We're taking orders for them all now, too.

My best guess is the slide will remain the same, but the barrel will be the optional 120mm barrel shipped for the Australian and Danish market.

Do you still have to lower the hammer manually to make it safe to holster after loading?

Yes. Many thousands of repetitions later, trust me, it's a piece of cake.
