I pulled an old Colt Python (1981 vintage) from the very back of the gun safe this past weekend. Took it to the range and shot it for the first time in 20+ years.

I quickly noticed the colored insert in the front sight is missing (probably shrunk from age and fell out at some point).

I plan on replacing it but do not remember its color. I seem to think it may have been red or orange, but thought I'd see if anyone on the forum might know.

Thanks.

Bill

I have two Pythons fron that vintage. I checked them both and neither have an insert. The front sights are both just black with serrations.

Thanks Boz,

Mine has no serrations but a dove tail slot in the front sight. The man that sold it to me indicated it had come through the Colt Custom Shop but I have no idea if that makes a difference.

Thanks for looking.

That may very well be the case. I've owned several more Pythons, which I personally think are the greatest revolver ever made, and I don't recall any having inserts.
I guess, just pick a color and go with it?? or sell it to me...
