Have been loading a few 147 Gr FP Precision Bullet over 3.2 Clays Universal (not CLAYS) at 1.115.....I have it on pretty good authority that its suppose to be PF 130 but wasn't close for me this past weekend

Shot out of my Glock 17 this weekend I only made avg velocity of 819 fps for a PF of 120 and I needed 850 fps

For some reason there doesn't seem to be very much data available for 147 lead with this powder.

It was cool and rainy and I'm wondering what impact that might have had on the load. Normally this time of year it would be about 20 degrees hotter

I thinking about bumping the charge up to 3.4 gr to see if that helps

Can someone on here point me to some load data...Hodgdon doesn't have much for 147 bullets..

I want to make sure I'm safe...looks like 3.5 Clays Uuniversal might be max

Thanks for the help

I just checked my log book and I was running 3.2gr. of Universal Clays behind the 147 Precision bullet, seated at 1.080" OAL. From my G34 it shot about 900 fps. Typically my G17 shoots about 20-25 fps slower than my G34 so your not to, to far away from my numbers. Try bumping the charge to 3.4 or even 3.5 and see how it shoots. Batches of powder vary so it's possible you need more of the particular lot you have. I never noticed U.C. to be very weather sensitive unlike some other powders out there.

You might want to check your OAL. Precision moly bullets tend to have a requirement to be loaded shorter so the bullet doesn't contact the rifleling. Had to do it in my 1911 in .45. Just checked my XD-9 a couple days ago and the max OAL to the rifleling was 1.105". Three other jacketed bullets checked can be loaded to 1.150".

1.115" might be OK in Glock but I'd sure check it.
A mind is like a parachute. Neither functions properly unless fully opened.
My name is Hank and I'm an IPSC shooter.
