Cutting slide that has been HC

I've previously HCed my Open gun. No slide cut for a slide racker as I haven't been a true believer. I do actually kinda need one now. My question is can a slide that has already been HCed be cut for a slide racker? From what what I remember from metal shop the answer would be a big no unless I am ready to refinish the gun.

I had a bunch of cuts done to my slide that had been hard chromed and haven't had any problems. I haven't had it refinished either. I just clean and oil after every match.
Can't stop the signal.
