so after taking off the primer assembly and the and clearing the primer jam in the primer magwell on my 650,i put the shell plate on,tightend it down, attempted to put the primer locator tab and spring on,and the spring flys off.being a newbie,i try to see what goes wrong with that part not being connected and now the whole shellplate will index forward pulling downward on the handle, and the upstroke it will go backwards one full station turn.looking through my manual and seeing that the disc retent ball is now missing from mine(naturally after calling dillon to get the locating tab spring)so would missing that ball cause this or did i do something wrong?

It sure sounds like the detent ball is absent. That is the most likely cause for this problem.
Voilą! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you, and you may call me V.

Yes, that is what the problem is. I had a buddy call me setting up his new 650. He explained that was what was happening and it took me a while to figure it out but I finally realized the detent ball was missing. He remembered hearing something drop on the floor during assembly but didn't pay it any attention. Found the ball and started loading soon after.

I was swapping calibers last night and forgot to put the detent ball back in. That's exactly how it behaved on my 650.
