I've decided I want to get an Advantage Arms conversion kit for use with either my G22 or G23 for training struggling shooters. I have other .22s but want it to be the same as their issued gun so they can simply shoot without the noise/recoil factor. Problem is nobody seems to have them in stock and AA is saying they're about 14mos backlogged. I checked on GB and the few that were on there were going for crazy prices. Anybody out there know of a better source? R,

Chris,

Just be diligent in the classifieds here....I was in the same boat as you a couple of months ago and then grabbed one here when it popped up.

Considering the amount of fancy equipment now seen in competition, some readers have complained loudly that the 'average guy' does not have a chance. It might be pointed out that this average guy never has had a chance. Competition is held to determine what is best, not what is average. And if all the equipment were standardized, the man who won would still not be in any sense average.

Richard,

Yeah, I've heard about that, but the problem is if they release it at the SHOT show they'll be sold out before they've left the convention. So, I figure I'd wind up waiting even longer if I were to go that route. I'd be fine with a solid CU that ru ns and from all accounts the AA kit seems to fit that pretty well. R,

So Craig, how's my conversion working out. I kinda miss it now, but rarely shot it since switching to a Buckmark for Steel Challenge. By the way I found the manual, if you still want it. I took it to Nationals, but didn't have time to find your squad.

Sorry for thread drift.

Seiichi,

Took it out for the first time this week and it is awesome, it will definitely see some use this winter. No need for the manual, thanks tho.

I gave them a call and they did have one for the G23, but it was the target model with the integral front sight rather than the LE model that has Glock sights front and rear. Rats....I'm looking for an LE model...figures :(

"TS"?
Pride and fear are emotions, which hope for an outcome. Outcomes take your attention from the present, where the shooting happens, to the future. It is totally impossible to do anything in the future, because it hasn't happened yet. The key to shooting your best is to be present as the witness of the shooting. Do not judge, do not give yourself anything to live up to. We can only shoot as well as we have trained ourselves to shoot. To try to shoot only induces stress. Be content with your current ability. And accumulate practice to improve that ability. Consolidate, build strength where you feel weakness. We cannot raise our ability until we accept our current limitations. Practice dissolves limitations. Matches simply define where the current limits exist. The game of shooting is all about redefining our limits.

Hmmmmm. Interesting (he said, in "I feel an article coming on" tone). :)

I've been waiting for mine to come in for 10 months now. I'm hoping that the free market kicks in and someone (like Tactical Solutions maybe?) can quickly meet the demand with a reliable and low cost CU.

Does anyone know if AA has even stepped up their output? I hear from the AA distributors is that they haven't seen any for months either. But nothing from AA, even through the distributors. And now I need another one for a Glock 19. There is a CU vacuum out there and first company to make one available for sale will get my $$$.

For a long time they had their 17/22 & 19/23 kits listed as available through authorized dealers only due to the huge back-order. Around mid-September they changed up their website and were accepting factory direct orders again. I put in my order on 09/26 and was advised it would be 8-12 weeks. We'll see. I guess they got flooded with orders, because they are no longer accepting on-line orders for the 17/22 & 19/23 kits.
