I don't know if I am totally sold on the backpack over the range bag idea but I used it at Nationals and a couple of local matches and it works well.
Here's a link.

Considering the amount of fancy equipment now seen in competition, some readers have complained loudly that the 'average guy' does not have a chance. It might be pointed out that this average guy never has had a chance. Competition is held to determine what is best, not what is average. And if all the equipment were standardized, the man who won would still not be in any sense average.

+1...I bought 3 on sale a few months ago, great buy. One as a rifle range bag, two for BOB's, one in each car, loaded with 3 days of supplies and the like.

But to skid in sideways totally used up, and worn out shouting "Man what a ride"!

There is a panel in the very back (next to your back) that can hold a hydration blader but I used it to hold my magbrush, squib rod, a multitool and a fourway screwdriver.
In the main compartment I can easily put either my open gun or limited gun in a gun rug along with a mag storage pouch with 8 mags in it. There are a couple of small slit type pockets in this compartment. One fits your scoresheets and match booklet to a T and the other held my wallet and and pocket stuff I don't want on me when shooting.
In the next compartment there was room for a 2 or 3 boxes of ammo my uplula loader, and my oakley sunglass case.
In the lower front pocket I fit two bottles of water and a small can of almonds with some jerky....the goodie pouch if you will. I also hung an accessori pocket on the side of the bag that easily held my camera and pro grip...although they would have easily fit in one of the other pockets as well.
The small top front pocket was perfect for gum, chapstick, my in ear hearing pro, and keys.
I took a big carabiner and ran it through a spot of webbing on the side and used it to carry my belt when I wasn't wearing it.
All in all a pretty slick way to carry gear without the extra tonnage that my range bag seems to attract.
As far as build quality goes it may not be on par with some of the top end nylon guys but it is definitely quite a bit better than the normal Chinese knockoff quality.
One thing that is exclusive to this pack that I really like is that the shoulder straps are adjustable on both the top and bottom. My size dictates that I usually extend the shoulder straps all the way which means half the strap is on top of my shoulder. This pack allows me to adjust the length of the strapsa and still keep the padded part of the strap on my shoulder.
A friend of mine told me "Your work has really made you cynical" my reply was "Cynical.....I passed cynical five years ago....I now live in reality"

I got a 100oz camelback bladder that fits nicely in the dedicated compartment for it on the bag.
