Hello everyone I am Black Jack.
I am interested in getting into hand loading because of the present administration in Washington DC. I want to be sure that I have a good stock pile of ammo for each of my guns just in case ammo becomes harder to get at reasonable prices. The way things are headed I see that time fast approaching.

I sure would appreciate it if you would share your wisdom and knowledge with me to help me get started.

1) Where to buy supplies for reloading?
I will be reloading for: 1911 A1 Colt 45, S&W Hammerless 38, S&W 357, S&W 22, 12 guage, 410 guage & SKS.
2) What reloading machines do you use and why?
3) Where is your hand loading set up located and why?
4) Do you have photos of your work area for hand loading that I can see?
5) I need ideas of where and how to set up a reloading area so photos will be a big help.
6) What are some of the things I need to look for when buying used hand loading equipment and why?

I sure would appreciate it if you would share your wisdom and knowledge with me to help me get started.

Thanks everyone,
Black Jack

Dillon is going to be the most reccomended press here. Since you want to load for shot gun also, you will want/need two different presses. if you do a search, there are threads on pictures people have of their set-ups. Buying a used Dillon is a no-brainer - Dillon will honor their life-time guarantee on all their presses except for the 1050. You wouldn't load for the .22. The 650 or the 550 would be a good choice since you want to load for pistols and rifle.

New guy from Athens, Alabama. Just bought the Dillon XL650. I received it two days ago and am working on setting it up. Glad this site is here for all of the information I'm sure I will need.

OK, guy, you need to visit the Mother of all Forum Threads about 'show us your workplace' reloading thread. A zillion posts and twice that many photos. All the way from the small-closet reloading zone to the full-blown-factory shop reloading zones. No end of highly detailed ideas for development of your own reloading space.

Welcome to the forum. I use a Dillon 650 loader. Although I don't currently load for my rifles, it will allow me to when I decide to. Dillon equipment is second to none and customer service is even better!
On your question about location of the press (reloading machine), I have mine outside of my house in a workshop/boat garage. I chose this location because of safety reasons for my family. I just didn't want spent primers and their dust in the house as well as the hole in the ceiling if/when the primer tube exhausts quickly out of the top :surprise: . The drawback to having it outside in an unairconditioned environment is moisture. You must empty the machine each time you finish loading. This is just a small inconvienence to me.
As to the question of where to buy components, I think most of us would like to know where we could get primers these days. I usually use Precision Bullets for my pistol loads.
I hope this helps.
