Who would like to see an XD in 10mm?

I would love to see it and from others I have spoken with they would like it as well. I e-mailed Springfield a while back and the response was "we have no plans for a 10mm at this time in the XD platform." I figure if enough people ask they might get the manufacturer to make one

Well... you would have to start with the .45 platform anyway, because the others have too short a chamber length, and thus barrel hood length to accept anything as long as the 10mm. It may be possible to make a 10mm barrel for the .45XD but I don't know what spring rates would be required for the recoil spring, though I'm sure it would be stouter than that of the standard .45. Again, not having a .45XD to hand, I don't know if even its barrel hood and ejection port size would accommodate the OAL of the 10mm, so a slide modification may be needed also. Whether the frame of the .45XD, made for a low pressure cartridge, would be able to handle the recoil forces generated by the 10mm for thousands of rounds is another matter. I think, in the end, it would require a whole new gun, frame and all, and given the popularity of the 10mm vs. other rounds I can't see it in the cards unless some "need" for the 10mm over the .40 we now have is expressed by a considerable number of shooters both private and institutional.
I would rather see a .22 upper offered for some one of the XD family of guns, and think that is much more a possibility, especially from the aftermarket, than seeing a 10mm offered by Springfield or anyone else. But hey... it could happen!

I gave you a no vote because the 10mm has become an unpopular cartridge. 40 S&W for LEO and home protection. Although the bullets are the same as 40 once fired cases are really hard to find. When you do the cost is high. I really don't think a manufacturer wants to tool up for a caliber that isn't going to sell a lot of guns. I may be wrong but that's my feelings.

I have to disagree with the above statement, the 10MM has been on the rise for a number of years now, I have 4 and use Double Tap ammo for it besides reloading .... it is a very good caliber and compares to a 357 mag in a semi-auto pistol, not a bad idea...

I love the 10mm but I have to agree that it has become a niche caliber for shooters that are willing to reload for it. But then of course you have calibers like the 357sig, where does that fit in that the 10mm couldn't. 357sig is to the 9mm that the 10mm is to the 40. If my dreams came true H&K would turn their HK45 into a HK10!
