I still can not understand the marketing ploy behind a 9mm Pro , but not build a 40 S&W??????
Also, demand seems right for a 22 conversion kit. I bet they would sell like hot cakes.
I know these things have been discussed here on BE before, but still don't understand there absence in the market place. Just daydreaming I guess.

Let me say from the start that I would/will buy a Pro in .40 if they offer it (have a Pro 9 now). With that said, it makes complete sense that S&W came out with the 9 Pro first (there have been talks about a Pro in .40). If you're going to market a single variety of dedicated Production gun, it HAS to be in 9 because there are lots of folks who shoot Production who don't reload. Factory .40 is far too harsh and is a competitive disadvantage compared with factory 9 that makes Minor. Now, once you get the 9 on the market and on he USPSA list it's probably an easy and smart decision to offer the same basic gun in .40 for those folks who want to handload Minor .40 or also use the gun for Limited/L-10 and make Major etc. I think we'll see S&W offer a Pro 40 before long...and I'll buy one (don't let my wife see that!).
I've also heard rumors that a .22 conversion is in the works as well. Right now I think gun companies are putting so much effort into delivering product that it's making it hard for them to develop, test and release new items, but that's not such a bad problem to have. R,

Yes! A minor 40L would be the shizzle for Production!
If you're looking for production, what's the advantage of minor 40 over 9? I thought the interest in an M&P 40 was from people who'd rather shoot tupperware in Limited.

Well, there isn't really much of an advantage. The recoil impulse of .40 Minor is more "pushy" and less "snappy". Sort of like the difference between the recoil impulse of .45 vs .40 Major. Lots of folks like it snappy because it cycles faster, but not me. Plus, if you're right on the perf, a .40 will break it where 9mm might not. Small thing, but hey, I'll take it!
The other plus of Minor .40 in Production is that you don't need to buy a new gun if you decide to shoot Limited, just add mag extensions and a magwell.
