Having a new gun, but shooting the old one is like buying a new car and taking the old one on a road trip. I have a few Single Stack matches coming up but I can't help myself. The 5.5" just begs to be shot. I haven't shot much limited in the last year so I'm a bit rusty on the wide body. That said, the goal of this gun was to be able to shoot it as well as my 1911. I think it's better.
We had a classifier match last sunday. First match with the new gun. Stage one was a bit slow as I was watching the sights and just 'seeing' how it looked from behind the gun. You can tell on stage two when I decided to turn up the heat. Stage 3 was Raw Deal. 10-13 yard targets. I started on the close targets off the draw and after the reload. Really happy with the slide action and how the sights track. Calculator has it at 100%. Stage 4, the extra shot on the steel hurt a bit but still managed a 97% on it.
I have not had a single issue so far.
Here's the classifier match. Looking forward to Alabama.

It was an amazing experience. Best stage for me was a 3rd on stage 3, the 36 round stage. 96% of Manny Bragg and just behind Travis. Although I had the quickest time on the stage, I dropped just a few too many points.

You can see by the video that this match was all high-round count field courses... it was an outstanding 8-stage match (only got 7 stages on video); definitely one of the most fun matches I've ever shot.

3rd Overall Limited
It was a good match and I shot pretty well. 94% of the available points and I shot it clean. After watching the videos I realize my movement is much, much better than it used to be but my actual shooting speed could use some work. I think I'm a rare case of my splits actually slowing me down a good bit. Another area that needs improvement is transitions when engaging targets through ports.
But I'm happy with my finish and I look forward to heading back next year!
