Thanks everyone.

Having a new gun, but shooting the old one is like buying a new car and taking the old one on a road trip. I have a few Single Stack matches coming up but I can't help myself. The 5.5" just begs to be shot. I haven't shot much limited in the last year so I'm a bit rusty on the wide body. That said, the goal of this gun was to be able to shoot it as well as my 1911. I think it's better.

We had a classifier match last sunday. First match with the new gun. Stage one was a bit slow as I was watching the sights and just 'seeing' how it looked from behind the gun. You can tell on stage two when I decided to turn up the heat. Stage 3 was Raw Deal. 10-13 yard targets. I started on the close targets off the draw and after the reload. Really happy with the slide action and how the sights track. Calculator has it at 100%. Stage 4, the extra shot on the steel hurt a bit but still managed a 97% on it.

I have not had a single issue so far.

Here's the classifier match. Looking forward to Alabama.

Here's the last one before Alabama. Turns out they had a couple of "Alabama like" stages so it was good to get out with the big gun and see what I could do. Didn't shoot the cleanest match but I was trying to push the speed just to see what I could get away with. It was fun. HOA for the match.

Alabama Match. This was an opportunity to learn from two World Champions, Blake Miguez and Travis Tomasie. It's one thing to watch from the back, it's another to shoot 9 stages with them WATCHING. I changed to Limited division so I could use the entire match as training. Things I learned: I need to pick up some speed on longer distance splits, still need to speed up close range hoser transitions but at least my foot speed is close to where it should be. Also picked up a few stage break down tips too. That was HUGE for me.

It was an amazing experience. Best stage for me was a 3rd on stage 3, the 36 round stage. 96% of Manny Bragg and just behind Travis. Although I had the quickest time on the stage, I dropped just a few too many points.

I forgot but congrats to Shaun on another HOA at the Battle. He did a great job of keeping his cool when things went a little sour and pulled himself out to win once again.

Nice going Shaun.

Finished 2nd overall at Spring Blast this weekend. Only one mike for the day, so it was a pretty clean match for me overall (except for the swinger debacle to start stage 4... )

You can see by the video that this match was all high-round count field courses... it was an outstanding 8-stage match (only got 7 stages on video); definitely one of the most fun matches I've ever shot.

1st A class Limited

3rd Overall Limited

It was a good match and I shot pretty well. 94% of the available points and I shot it clean. After watching the videos I realize my movement is much, much better than it used to be but my actual shooting speed could use some work. I think I'm a rare case of my splits actually slowing me down a good bit. Another area that needs improvement is transitions when engaging targets through ports.

But I'm happy with my finish and I look forward to heading back next year!

FGW Team members, Alan Lavander and Daniel Hidalgo shot great at the Gator/Area 4 match.
Alan won 1st A-Limited at 6th overall and Daniel 1st A-Single Stack and Section Champion at 2nd overall.
It was awesome shooting with these two guys, and Bobby too  , this weekend.

Just in case anyone here isn't on fb....FGW had a pretty good showing at the Battle in the Bluegrass. Here's mine, minus stage three. I shot stage 3 from two positions. I felt the standing reload in the door way was faster.
