I thought I had a pretty good handle on the rule book, but I can't seem to find the ruling on this. If anyone has some insight, I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts. I'd rather not post the actual COF to protect the innocent.
Basically, I shot the COF and didn't do one of the "tasks" required in the COF and was happy to take my 10 point penalty. Then when the MD heard about it, he said I didn't shoot it as he intended and told me I could reshoot the stage or he was going to throw it out of the match.
I just want to know what the actual rules on this are. It has happened to me 3 times....this summer!! Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.
Adios,
TG

First of all, the MD can't make that decision unless he was the RM as well, but yes the RM and MD together can change a WSB under certain circumstances, even after it has been shot.

Have a look at section 2.3

This is going to be worthless without the SD, so here it is.

Upon start signal, engage all targets as they become visible
from within delineated shooting area only.
Scarecrow must be placed upon table 2 before activating
appearing targets T6 and T7, which remain visible at rest.
One procedural penalty will be assessed if scarecrow is not
placed on table 2 before activating T6 and T7. One
procedural penalty will be assessed if any part of the
scarecrow is touching the ground after placing on table.

The thing that they did change is they added, "If the Scarecrow is touching the ground after activating T6 and T7 one proceedural will be assesed per shot fired". I just didn't move the scarecrow and took the proceedural. ????
Adios,
TG

Travis,

I can see both sides of this.

Basically, they didn't get the stage up to bullet proof. They left holes in it where it could be gamed.

On one hand, as a shooter, you read the stage procedure and decide your course of action to get you your best hit factor.

On the other hand, they didn't drag those props out of the shed for nothing.

So, if one shooter does something that negates the nature of the stage, then the Range Master ought to be called in to see about addressing the issue. And, the shooter may have to reshoot the stage. That is in the rule book.

If this keeps happening to you, then you might want to help the match staff by addressing that before you shoot. You can help them write up better stage procedures.

Thanks for the response Flex. It is the competative nature in me that just wants to shoot the stage and let everyone else figure out their own way to shoot it!! That is what I love about USPSA!! It isn't just about the shooting...there is thinking involved too!!! I'll try and be more helpful from now on............but it is going to be hard <_<
