I was playing with EZWS trying to figure out one problem and discovered another...
Original Problem:
Is there a way to combine the results from multiple matches in EZWS to generate overall statistics at the end of the season?
Unrelated Problem:
I noticed the Match>Update Classifications function for the first time (my introduction to using EZWS was a fast tutorial including only the bare essentials for entering and posting scores each week). Should I be downloading this file from USPSA every time I score a match? Hopefully I haven't screwed anything up too badly by not doing so...
I didn't see anything about this stuff in previous posts, but feel free to smack me upside the head and point me in the right direction if I missed it...
Thanks!

I don't know of anything to combine multiple matches in EzWin.
The classification updates only need to be done when USPSA posts the classification update once a month, around the 15th. It only works when there is an active match file with a minimum of one stage and one competitor, even if only updating the Master file. I try to keep our club master file up to date, so latest classifications are available during match registration. For a major match like the High Desert Classic, I also update the match file, since registration is open for several months.

I update the match file once I finish registering everyone before keying in the first result. Later after I've gotten home, I verify the USPSA numbers of those folks I keyed in new from nothing to make sure the name matches the number. If (when....) I find I've thumb-stumbled a uspsa number, I fix it and run classification update against the match again.
For major matches where registration is a multi-month exercise, I run classification updates as soon as the update is available around the 12th or 13th. I'll continue running classification updates if I have to register anyone else at the last minute, as sometimes someone will claim one classification but actually have something else (I'm M-Limited, so I must be M-Production; nope, you're not, USPSA says you're A-Production).

Yes, you should run the classification file when doing your local match scores every month (the file updates monthly)
Be sure to...when you do...to check out the things that don't match up. You may have a shooter that went from an annual (A-xxxxx) membership to a Three-year (TY-xxxxx) or Life (L-xxxx) membership. You need to make sure you catch those changes.
(somebody can probably cover the details of such...better than I can/did.)

The best way to pick one of those out is look for those in the match whose class was changed from A or B or whatnot suddenly to "U". Each one of those needs to be researched.

No, ezws doesn't do anything like that. Now, what you can do is to take the webfile.txt files that comes out of ezws for use in uploading match results to USPSA and feed those into excel (it's a .csv file) and smash and trash match results data that way. I've never done it myself, but I know the webfile.txt file contains all the match results numbers you could want for something like that.

Shoot me an email and I can hook you up with something that will do everything you are asking about.....
.....and depending on how you maintain year-long results, you might be able to use exactly what I am currently using.
