I too have been looking into buying some bullets for my AR, mostly recreational shooting, maybe some 3-gun, but our max range is 200 yards. I've been looking at 55gr FMJ but havn't quite decided what to buy and how much I can afford at the moment. I havn't tried any of these bullets, but I've gotten most of my references off of this forum so if these guys are using them, chances are they're pretty good.
mlmiller1 - have you tried those bullets from brassmanbrass? Do they make their own? They aren't labeled as being from any particular manufacturer....

1000 $82.00 $0.082
6000 $449.00 $0.075
Milspec 55gr FMJ - M193
http://www.wideners....dir=278|281|727
500 $39.00 $0.078
5000 $370.00 $0.074
I kinda just did this now for my own exercise... I've heard the hornaday 55s are super accurate but unfortunitly they're out of stock at the moment. I think Wideners was about the cheapest I've seen them, but that could change if they charge a ton for shipping. I can't believe what brassman brass wants for shipping, havn't they heard of flat rate?

Ummm - you can get the Montana Gold Bulk Pack 55gr (3500 bullets) for $265 shipped directly from Montana Gold - add $5 if the package is going to a home (instead of business) address. I went to public school in Mississippi, but my trusty calculator tells me this works out to 7.7 cents per bullet delivered. I've looked around a bit and this is the cheapest I've found - unless you want to shoot the pulled surplus tracer stuff (no thanks) - I've seen that for around 4-5 cents a bullet a month ago.

Ah yes you're right, I got the wrong number in there somehow, typo. I fixed it...also expanded my cost per round to 3 decimal places... In that case, that's just about the best price around, milspec only beats it by a fraction and that's before shipping too for wideners...

I have not tried them but I would if I needed some. I was fairly well stocked with some winchesters, then I bought a case of MG, & recently got a deal on some smk69gr however, if needed, I would certainly try the ones from brassman. I haven't even gotten into my MGs yet so I'm still a ways away from needing any but I keep my eyes open for what looks easiest & best at any time.
