I was wondering if y'all wouldn't mind sharing your opinions on this mag pouch:

Thanks in advance.

I was talking with a fellow the other day who had one. He liked it but wasn't really overly enthusiastic. He said if he had it to do over again, he wouldn't buy one. Here is what he said, in a nutshell:

If you are shooting Production, it puts all the mags close together which is good, but they are not aligned with each other in the same plane so you kind of have to fish around.

If you are shooting Limited or Open, you don't have the flexibility to move them around.

Not too fond of mine. With even minimal retention the whole unit flexes when trying to remove a mag from one of the outer pouches. Unless you absolutely don't have room on your belt for standard mag pouches I'd pass on it.

I also find it easier to always reach to the front pouch then sweep backwards along my belt to the next mag than to jog in and out to the different positions.

I looked at the beltfeed for a long time but finally passed on it because of the same things being said here so far. For $130 you can buy 5 or more ready tactical pouches. For production they are great pouches. I vote you pass on it as well.

Traded into one.

I would not spend $20 to get another one.

I'm a little skeptical about using those multi-mag pouches. I've been using Blackhawk CQC type and while they function well I would'nt buy them again. My son has the Mach2 tactical pouches and they are pretty smooth on the draw. I also hear that Ready Tactical makes a great pouch, I'll pick up a few and try them out.

OK, I think I'll pass on this. So that brings up the question, what's a good pouch to get? If it makes a difference, I'll likely be shooting L10. Holster recommendations would be appreciated as well. Gun is a Glock 23.

Thanks all very much.

Bladetech DOH and Comp-Tac are very popular choices and can be used in several divisions. I just purchased a Safariland 5188 paddle style holster which I used a few weeks ago in Production and I can say it worked great. Since I shoot a Glock 34 it will also work with almost any small frame glock such as a 17, 22, 35. Since it's a paddle type it's also easier to put on and take off.

Hello: I like the Safariland 771's for a STI/SVI which also work great for small framed Glock mags. I also use Uncle Mikes double mag pouches as well. The Uncle Mikes are cheap and work very well. Thanks, Eric

I LOVE the Belt Feed for single stack mags. It puts the mags in line, but at different heights so you just move you hand farther back and it'll hit the next one. I don't recall ever grabbing the second mag before the first (or similar) and it puts four mags really close together. If you have a lot Belt space it's not an issue, but with my 31" waist I don't like having my last mag or two on my spine and the BF helps there.

For double stack mags for Production I like the Ready Tactical line....inexpensive, reasonable amount of retention and you can stack them pretty close together....maybe not quite as close as the BF, but close enough for Production where you're not nearly as likely to go to a sixth or seventh mag. I'll be the dissenter here --- I've been using one in Production for the last several years and actually spent the money to replace it after breaking the first one earlier this year during breakdown. The older one was better than the current production in that the mags were bunched tighter together --- I could get four pouches into the space of three on the belt, and since I run six pouches I like not having to reach too far back to get to the last mag.

I've on occasion reloaded from the second pouch first during a field course --- and I've never sweated that. I've never done it on a speed shoot or classifier. I'm not aware of my hands dancing around searching for the next mag; rather it feels like I just reach down to the same place and encounter a mag....

I run the same rig in production, limited or L10....
Nik

Wife and I have both been shooting Single Stack. She LOVES her beltfeed. I tried it for
some dryfire and a couple of matches and sold mine.

Currently using 2 Uncle Mikes doubles with a 3/8" spacer at the top, and two cutdown
771's behind the doubles.

I have three of them - two for production and one for single stack/L10 with a single stack gun. I do think it is all a case of what you are used to and what fits. Being a somewhat "vertically challenged" shooter - read small - I lack the waistline to line up several individual pouches so the beltfeed works well for me.

Any of you guys that hate your belt fed system willing to sell me one cheap?
I'm just getting into production, it looks like something I'd like to try but I dont want to pay that much for something I may not like.
If you have one you dont use, please PM me and turn it into cash!
Oh yeah, I have a Glock 34.
