Just back from testing and fine tuning. 5" 1911 barrel.

Always use WST. Current 9mm is 125 grain moly Bear Creek TC or RN.
OAL was 1.120 up to 1.126. Charge was 4.1 to 4.4; it's about 45d F. the past few days air temp.
Accuracy was best at 4.3. Feeding and ejection perfect.

The above ranks next to 4.5 WST 9mm FMJ Montana Gold at 1.150 as my favorite pet load with good accuracy and quick front sight return, but that OAL worked in a M&P 5". My unramped STI Spartan prefers shorter OAL.

Lee factory carbide die crimper in Station 4 out of a 550b, mixed headstamps and Federal primers always.

That 4.5gr WST (is it 124gr) MG load runs about the same FPS as 4.3gr Universal, which is my usual 9mm load. It's good for about 1070fps from a G17.

Hello: I tried my pet load the other day with 3 different pistols. The pistols were a Glock 34, S&W M&P Pro and a XD-9 Tactical. We tried some other loads in the pistols as well. It was funny that the same load felt the best in all 3 pistols. It also felt great in my CZ Shadow and Glock 17 when I had them. It is 4.2 grains of Tite Group, 121 Montana Golds, Winchester small pistol primers and an OAL of 1.140". If you get a chance to try it in your pistol let us now how it works for you? We tried some 115-147 loads and the 121's worked and felt the best. Thanks, Eric

Work up at your own risk. It's a tack driver when I do my part. Based on D. Manley's info, so thanks and credit to him.

I tried this load with a 115 FMJ Zero, and it is, indeed a tack driver. A bit snappy though.

My very first ever reloads so some of the variation could be due to inexperience and not real consistant loads. But "they shoot good".

I'm sure a big part of it is due to using mixed brass.

I don't know what you mean by "they shoot good", but, with that much variation, I'd be surprised to see it group much less than 4" at 25 yards. :surprise:

I went to the range today to chronograph my loads and to do some IDPA practice. The groups were fairly tight considering I was practicing 2-2-2 drills and weak hand/strong hand. My practice distant was 10 yards (30 feet) and several of the groupings were touching and in or near the center. I used 2 different guns with basically the same results.

Weather - Sunny and clear, temperature in the low 50's and approx. 45-50 percent humidity.

Mixed cases
Federal small pistol primer
147 grain Montana Gold
3.4 grains of TG
1.145 OAL
.375 crimp

Chronograph results at 10 feet:

Gun 1 - Springfield XDm 4.5
Average velosity - 899.3fps
Extreme spread - 12.4fps
Standard deviation - 6.3
High- 904.6fps
Low - 892.2fps
132 pf (132,197.1 actual)

Gun 2 - Beretta Brigadier Elite II
Average velocity - 889.3fps
Extreme spread - 14.3fps
Standard deviation - 8.1
High - 898.7fps
Low - 884.4fps
130pf (130,727.1)

Well no one has said it, 4.7 grns of Unique with a 125 cast bullet is a super accurate load. Yea its a little dirty, you got to clean anyway.

I think you mean 1.145"?

Have you chrono'd that? It's about 10% below Speer's and Hodgdon's minimum load. OTOH, I load that bullet much shorter (closer to 1.1") and with about 4.3-4.4gr, it does over 1100fps.

I have been shooting

Mixed range brass (mostly Win, Federal, Speer, and R P)
124 Gr. MG CMJ
1.12 OAL
Win SP
4.0 gr TiteGroup

Recoil in my 75 Shadow feels similar to the 124 gr Speer Lawman load.
