Do the Storm Lake barrels seem to fit a little tighter to the slide than the stock tube?

Just wondering

yes, not match fit tight, but usually a little more snug than stock.

Shot the Storm Lake for the first time yesterday at a match - wasn't able to get enough loaded so shot about 15 Win white box 115's. 6 of the 15 did not fire due to light hits (2 had NO firing pin hit at all). Will talk to Kenny and/or SL on Monday. All my reloaded rounds fired.

We have had problems with this also. One thing to do is clean your striker and striker tunnel with a q-tip to get all the gunk out of there. Check to make sure the end of your striker hasn't broken or worn down. Then check the primers on that box of ammo to see if the primers look low. If none of those things look like a problem then I would worry about my new barrel

if you have those rounds still try dropping them in the chamber. Maybe the chamber is a bit tight not allowing the gun to go fully into battery. Maybe those rounds were a bit long, winchester has made boo boos in the past, so measure them up also. Check it out and let us know, if the chamber is tight storm lake will fix you up in no time. of course if your chamber is tight, your reloads work, and your accuracy is good you may not want to have them "fix" it.

I have two Storm Lake barrels, one for my 4in and another for my 9L. Both were tight upon putting them into the guns and they are headspaced correctly.
They shoot night and day better than the factory barrels......
The gun is now almost perfect!

thanks - i will check the chamber. I put the stk bbl back in today and fired/functioned fine so it may not be the striker (thanks dcarter). I'll work on this and post.

ok, so all drop in fine as do my reloaded. Headspace looks not to be an issue. Maybe i jumped to conclusion about the bbl? But still seems odd to have had only minor issues with the gun for a year, put a new bbl in and it has so many FTF. I will replace the striker today and post results.
BTW Win 115's measured from 1.150 to 1.165 w/avg of 1.157
And thanks to Kenny at Speed Shooters - he backs what he sells - he's one of the good guys - y'all need to buy something from him.

For what that is worth to the story...

OK - i cleaned striker and tunnel etc and found lots-o-gunk. Did not replace the striker just for the sake of finding out if the crud was the problem. Seems it was - at least so far. Shot 100 rnds of reloads and the last of the Win white box (only 10) with zero malfunctions.

Also in the process i shot 20yd groups off MTM rest and sandbags with the 147 Precision/Solo 1000 and the Storm Lake bbl. All are 10 rnd groups: 3.3gr almost 7", 3.4gr 4.5", 3.5gr 2.7", 3.6gr 2.2", 3.7gr 2.65". Both the 3.5gr and 3.6gr would have been about 1.75" had it not been for 1-2 "flyers".

The load that i use for comparison in my MPro is 4.1 TG and Zero 125jhp which consistantly shoot 1" 5 shot groups at 20yds. (But i have so many 147's...)

Thanks for the help.
