I started my dry fire at about ten
5 sets of Steve Starters
twice around the clock draws with right and left leg leading
2 sets of low to high port side movements..... I think I should do more of these.
I was loosing my focus so I put the gun away and went home.
I felt bad about the short day so I went to shoot a idpa indoor match.
First two stages went well, then the GP6 had a lot of fail to extracts.
I left the match with one stage to go because of the amount of Fail to extracts... sending gun back to STI first thing Monday.
end of shooting day.

I started with my usual Steve Starters I was felt really good calling all A's before pulling the trigger
Then did some box to box movements with reloads, I found that I was missing the mag well when the boxes were about 5-7 yards apart. Everything closer and more distant reloads were fine. After the drill was over I moved the boxes to 7 yards and continued to do the drill until I could get ten perfect.
Then did shooting on the move drills started off seeing a LOT of movement in the front sight. It took about 3 or 4 times to get my body low enough to limit the sight movement. After that I was starting to move quick and making A's.
Then some stanting reload drills, and some clock movement drills.
The total range time was 1:43 I felt like overall I would give this day a 7 of ten + point for working out the movement problem.

Steve Starters are a warm up for dry fire. You start 10 draws hands down(HD) 10 Draws Hands above sholders (HAS) 10 turn and draws. Then starting at 7 yards and working back to 25 yards one step at a time. You need 3 targets draw 2,2,2 reload 2,2,2 (HD, HAS, El prez, one step forward on the draw, one step back on the draw, draw 2,2,2 reload strong hand 2,2,2, and draw 2,2,2 reload weak hand 2,2,2.) So 7 draws and 7 reloads then take a step back and do it over again until your out of room to move back. That is how I start every training day.

Then I started box to box movements. I was really tring to see the reload as I was leaving the box and then looking for the spot on the ground where my feet are to set up. I found that when I'm moving more than 7 yards its easy to see the ground but everything shorter than that I'm not seeing the ground. The gun is up on target before I enter the box or to the spot on the ground I want.
I'm working and really tring to improve my shooting while moving so the rest of the day I worked on Shooting on the move. I'm working on more angles to the targets. instead of just moving front and back I have 8 starting points and 12 end points that so I can move from 0* to 90* (man where is the Degree key) I find that the closer to 90* (ie moving side to side) the more movement in the front sight there is and i move slower as well.
The total range time was 2:12 I felt like overall I would give this day a 8 of ten I feel that I'm am looking more where I'm going now and seeing where I need to be. I was really in the zone the time went so fast.

The good things today 1st the memory stage I did OK I did not have my plan ready when I went to shoot only ran it in my mind about 5-6 times but I did it the way I planed to. All of my reloads were smooth with no bobbles. I saw my sights lifting and was calling my shots 90% of the time and with in 2-3 in on the paper. (Steel is a must for next weeks training) Movements were ok. Table draw and load went really well. Shooting on the move Outstanding.
Things to work on this week STEEL of course I think all this week should be shots greater than 15 yards. More work on seeing where I want to be on set-up is a must for this week as well.
There is a match Sunday in Kansas goals are Proper planing, A solid focus on targets 20 yards or more, prep and press. See the spot.

So if anyone knows who I should make a report to that would help. "I really fear for the safety of the people that go to this match." I will NEVER go there again.

After the Steve Starters I set up some barrels to work on getting to gun up as I'm moving to the end of the wall. Everything went well today I saw the sight picture that I want and I would say about 98% A's while calling my shots.
Focus today was a 9
Training time only 43 min but a good 43 min.
I think I'm ready for area 3.

Over all I would give Area 3 a 7/10 because of loosing focus at the end
I would give OKC a 4/10 because of poor match focus, poor planing but shot one stage clean with outstanding sight focus.
Things to work on this week = Low Ports and fast movements between shooting on the move and running to shooting spots.

What did STI say about the failure to extract with the GP6. I recently purchased one and have had trouble with this also. I've only put about a 150 rounds thru it but this happens quite a bit. Nice gun.

What I did was take the extractor off and put a small shim behind the spring. They told me how to take it out. The gun is really east to work on.

So what I learned is that I can shoot a bit faster and still see everything. So my goal for this year is to gain confidence in my shooting I know that I can hit the A's and I proved it to myself.
This week I started a new drill. Just like to el-prez but moving the whole time. Forward and back, side to side. I'll see how this goes for me.
