I can't believe I haven't posted a photo of this thing yet...

It's really pretty bulky for hat-mounted use. If it were any larger or heavier, it would be too annoying, and the bill of the hat would bounce too much. I need to mount it to my earmuffs with their flat-surface mount, and try that. Clearly, the proof-of-concept phase is over - it works great. Now I just need to come up with an alternative to the high-tech adjustable rubberized mount I'm using.

The truth is that there is no choice between the two. You line the sights up in the A-zone and let it fly at the absolute soonest moment that you see what your experience tells you will put the hole where you're aiming it using the amount of trigger control you need to keep the gun lined up in that spot. There is no concern about accuracy or speed - either one is an illusion from behind the gun. There's "where do I want to hit" and "is the gun lined up there or not"... followed up with "did the sights lift from where I wanted to hit". To assign an "either/or" to the equation is to deny the fact that the gun can be shot ridiculously fast while shooting all As - but it won't be done while you're determined that one must be sacrificed for the other - and it also has the amusing side effect of pressuring the shooter to ignore "the shooting" in the name of "the speed" - XRe

I'd think the strap mount might work better for ear muffs. Have you tried that one?

It's really wide.

I'll try to remember to post pictures with the mounts attached.

Hey Memphis, Did you get it mounted to your muffs like you were talking about?

I just got the same camera, it's lighter and smaller than the one I use now, but I hate to put it on a hat as I usually wear the hat to low over my eyes to get the full field in the video. I'm gonna play with it over the next day or two and see if I can get it mounted for the Summer Sizzler in Manchester, TN.

by the way, you owe me $300.00, I was happy with my old unit till I saw your videos. :D

was thinking of getting one too. did you have to rotate the video using the software since you mounted it sideways on your hat?

also, did the side mount work? was it offset too far to the side?

appreciate the post and tips.

Missed these old questions.

1: I did mount it to the headband on my Radians Pro Amp's. I simply stuck the surface mount to them (it comes with double-stick tape on the bottom) and then wrapped the assembly with a couple of layers of electrical tape, in case the double-stick tape decided to let go someday.

2: I didn't rotate the video. The lens of this camera rotates a full 180* inside the body... You just twist the lens until the two laser-pointers are level, and hit record.

thanks for answering! can you post some pics of the contour mounted on your Pro Amps? I'm trying to attach it to the headband on my Peltor 6s but it flexes a little and the surface mount isn't holding tight.
