So what is my best load for this bullet weight shooting a 5" 1911? IDPA mostly.

I found that Solo 1000 works great using 147s out of my G-34, now I would like to load it for my 1911.

Thanks for the help.

4gr gets me 167 pf with a SnS 230gr LRN, so somewhere in that ballpark.

It got me 173pf at ss nationals in Illinois. I live in Colorado.

Corrected my powder charge. I use 4.1grains Solo1000.

4.1 to 4.2gr of Solo 1000 is about right. I tested 4.4gr of Solo 1000 with a 230gr BBI last weekend and got 175pf. OAL 1.255.

Thanks to all that have posted on this topic, here and in other threads.
I just picked up 500 230gr RN plated bullets from X-Treme Bullets. These will be my first loads for our new XD45 5" If I had followed the chart from Accurate, I'd have been .4gr or more over the load ya'll are using. That's still well within their listed max, but that sounds way, way hotter than I need.

I'm hoping to send the first test rounds down range tomorrow, and then hit an outdoor range on Monday for further testing / chrono.

I shot a lot of plated bullets before I moved to cast lead. The lead slugs will have more velocity with the same powder charge, you may need more powder than those of us using cast bullets. I use 4.3gr for 172 PF with a 230gr lead bullet.
