Hi everyone,

whats the best way to remove the old primers at the lee 1000? Meaning without having to unscrew the whole press or drilling a hole in the tabel

When I was using mine, I mounted it with a thick piece of plywood between it and the table. The plywood had a cutout in front to accept a jar lid which collected the primers.

Can you get them out with a vacuum cleaner or so?

Never had to try but you probably with a shop vac. Problem would be that you would have to have some small tube to fit down into the opening to get what's in there. A short length of garden hose might work, but it might also be too big.

My suggestion would be to unbolt it and get the ones that are there out then try something like I did to catch them.

When I used one, I drilled a 2" hole through the bench, trimmed a plastic funnel to fit inside the hole and mounted a small shelf under the bench for an ACRO bin to catch the spent primers.

Sim to RePete, I drilled a large hole in my bench. But I nailed the lid from an old 1# can of clays under the table with a larger hole in the lid. Screw the bottle to the lid and go to town loading. Every few months I empty the bottle and reinstall it.

When I had a 1000 I too drilled a hole about 1" and secured a piece of clear flexible tubing cut flush to the bench top and ran it about 18" to my trash can under the bench. When I emptied the trash the primers were alreatdy in it.

I bolt my press to a 2X6 and then clamp the 2X6 to my bench. A one inch hole in the board directly below the press allows draining of the primers and a piece of duct tape keeps them in until I want to empty the cavity...low tech and simple.

I drilled a 1" hole in my mounting plate and bench then used 3/4 heater hose as it fit perfectly in the hole. I routed the hose down a bench leg and into an empty 1# powder jug that I ziptied to the bench leg. Took about 10 minutes and was done with garbage laying around the garage.
