I thought I would share my portal with my fellow forum members. I was inspired by stage 9 at the BRM3G in kentucky where they had a slot to shoot thru while canting your rifle. My portal adds a twist to this idea by having a number of random (almost) holes drilled in the board in such a way as to make the shooter look thru one hole while his muzzle is pointed downrange thru another hole. The board is secured to two fenceposts and was very stable. Tape seperated it into 3 sections (ports) consisting of a series of holes in each section. 4 steel targets were downrange at ranges of 100, 150, and 200 (x2) yds. Starting with an unloaded rifle, at the sound of the buzzer, load the rifle and engage all four targets thru the hole(s) of your choice from each section (port), for a total of 12 shot (or in most cases more). Many shooters groaned prior to shooting it and when asked afterward said it wasn't as hard as they thought it would be. Average time for the average shooter was in the 60sec. range.

I like it. Of course, if you have anyone w/ an M1A shoot the course, they will likely be able to see their sights through the same hole the barrel is sticking out.

Will open comps fit through the big holes? (JP tank brake comes to mind...)

it reminds me of a stage i have in my head, where you have to shoot thru 2 different steel plates with holes in them, in order to get your bullet to the target, so you have to know how your trajectory works.

There are reasons and excuses, excuses we make up and tell ourselves and others in an attempt to make us feel better or look better. Reasons are the truth, if we are strong, we learn from them. If we are weak, we make up more excuses.
