I'm looking for something no more than 300$, that can take memory cards, and takes good video. All I have now is picture camera that takes video and it lets you get the idea but you really can't see what I'm shooting at down range.

This is the video quality I have now http://www.youtube.c...h?v=74pC_kI2jWk

(As you've seen Corey) I use two cameras. The headcam (goprohero3-$200) and a cheapy handcam. With both perspectives I am able to pick up more on what I did great, and what I could have done better.

Head cams are cool and I might get one in the future but I like to try and get video of myself as well so I can see what I need to work on.

You don't need a cameraman. You put the camera on the ground and it will chase you through the stage

or its frames per second.....

I'll need to read the manual

I just bought a Sanyo Xacti GC10 for $150. Records 720p@30fps, 5x optical zoom and has electronic image stabilization. The image stabilization is far from perfect so a steady hand is required, but I think that's true of all these small cameras. The FOV is a bit narrow but I haven't found that to be much of a problem for match videos.

Use a tripod when taking videos, just make sure to tell the operator when, where to zoom in and out.

I just purchased the Panasonic SDR-S26. It is a great SMALL camera with 70X optical zoom. It records onto SD cards. I think it is awesome. It records in standard definition, but with the 70X zoom, you can really keep the image close. It has a web mode for uploading directly to YouTube. I have been using it for about a month, and think it is great for out sport. Most of our videos from "Are you ready" to ULSC are short enough that you can record alot of stages on one SD card. Then you can transfer onto a DVD. I have only watched on my laptop, so I am not sure yet how clear on the TV, but I anticipate it to be pretty good.

I used if during a class with Max and Travis. One of my buddies was taking the class as well, so I just put initials on two SD cards, and swapped them depending on the shooter. Then we could both take our cards home at night to look at them.

Randy

At $299 from BB I thought it was a great deal as well. Cheap enough that you are not going to stress about it during the match.

Below is a link to a video taken with the camera. I was videoing one handed while trying to score targets. I did not have a tripod with me.

Corey you've seen the one we use. It uses an SD card and that was important to me, it also will link directly to YouTube for uploads. The ONE thing I don't like about it is the file extension the videos are saved in. Do NOT buy anything JVC, they have their own stupid format that Windows Movie Maker cannot work with. There isn't a free converter available for it and I'm not paying for a program to convert the files. Whatever you get, make sure the file extension is compatible with what ever editing software you want to use. The .MOD and .MOV bites balls!

It doesn't have cards, but will hold 60 minutes of video. The FLIP-really simple, easy, and quick. Set up to dump to You Tube. Around $90 on Amazon.

I use and have been running a Panasonic H18. It's a 30gb HDD and it's withstood some climate up hear in PNW as well as a flooding storm in Texas and it takes a beating and keeps recording quality video. I picked it up for around $300 about a year and a half ago.

+1
Corey, I would give serious thought to the HD Flip camera. For the money, it would be really hard to beat. Most of my Area 6 videos were taken with a NON HD Flip, and they are pretty decent. The non HD version can be had for under $100 and the format is .mpeg so it is easily accepted into most video editing programs.

Interesting. Can any of these cameras have a hatcam attached to them? If so what all else is needed to rig your own hat cam off of one of these units?

Has anybody tried this? What do you camera savey folks say about this one?

http://www.bestbuy.c...d=1218079754199

It has MPEG 4 which is suppose to work well with a mac. It is HD, takes SD cards, has optical zoom, image stabilization, it can be found on amazon for ~$250.

Ok it got bad reviews...now I'm leaning more towards the http://www.radioshac...s...558934&cid= because it got better reviews and is cheaper but has everything the other model does but zoom.

That's the one I have. I got it from Radio Shack for $150. For some reason, the red one was $50 cheaper than the black or pink when it first came out.

Pros:
- 720p
- 5x optical zoom
- image stabilization (though it's not very good)
- decent as a 10mp camera
- uses SD cards

Cons:
- The lens cap is a pain to put on and when you take it off, it just dangles around getting in the way
- The FOV is a bit narrow
- autofocus is a bit slow
- There is no hand strap
- it uses a proprietary cable to connect to your PC
- small battery that needs to be removed from the camera to charge

But for $150 and decent videos, I can live with those problems.

Corey, go to YouTube and search for the Sanyo Xacti. You might find a few answers there.

I haven't got it yet, but the Panasonic SDR-S26 previously recommended was what I was looking at. The optical image stabilization was a big plus for me.
