Live and learn. Ran into a berdan primed .223 and decided I was going to win. Wrong, I didn't know what it was at the time. I'm still learning. My RCBS decapping pin is now L shaped.

Absolutely, get six or ten, re-order when you get down to two. It's weird, I can go 10,000 rds without breaking a pin, then trash two in ten minutes. I ran into three Berdan primed cases today, and a bunch of .380 cases mixed in with the 9mm I was loading, once you really pay attention to the feel of the press you can stop before you get into trouble most times.

I called them up, they sent a new one free. I like that kind of customer service so I bought a few extra too.

I've busted them in my Lee dies. Probably had them too tight.

It was my own fault. I had to try to win this battle, instead of letting it go.

I've broken Lee's as well...I gave up on adjusting the collet so it will slide and just chuck them up tight, replace as needed.

But extras as mentioned above. I did the same thing when I started loading 223 ages ago. Still have the pin here somewhere as a reminder.

I also "L'd" my RCBS decapping pin last week.

My cause was a spent primer inside the case. The pin apparently tried to push a primer from the inside of the case out the bottom of the case. I guess I have to change out the media in the tumbler.

.....new pins on order.....

I find the threaded stem on the RCBS bends as well as the decap pin most of the time-- check that before installing a new pin or it will go too in short order. RCBS will send replace them free if you bend or break 'em, but it's kind of a hassle.

I like the Lee setup, but when those break, they break. No bending-back-into-place like you can sometimes do with others.

Yeah my stem bent also. RCBS sent a new one with pins in a few days. Great service.
