Most outside of our local shooting circle may not know Kenny, but he deserves to be remembered. He died Thursday May 21st at the age of 74.

Kenny was a mainstay at our local gun store. Always sitting behind the desk, and willing to chat it up, tell a joke, help a customer, whatever. He didn't work there, but you thought he did with how much he was willing to help anyone out, from the new customer looking for their first gun, or the experienced competitor looking for parts or advise. He also spend a good deal of his day with newer shooters showing them how to hold and use a gun.

Kenny was a former member of the Army Reserve. He worked as a repairman for Illinois Bell for 40 years, retiring in 1994.

He was a life member of the NRA, and active in SASS, where he was known as "Sassparilla Ken."

Kenny will be missed.

Visitation is 1-4pm on Sunday May 24th. A private memorial service will follow.

God speed, Kenny. Teach 'em how to hold the A zone up there, buddy.

Heard this said about me one time about 12 years ago... back when I was one of the lean and mean (I was the head instructor for a unit field exercise).

Young LCpl: "Hey Gunny... how come we're just standing around... we were supposed to start 20 minutes ago?

Company GySgt: "The war doesn't start until Cpl Wolverton's had his coffee."
