While working up a Single Stack Nats load for my Ed Brown Kobra, I reduced my OAL from 1.25 to 1.22, and successfully increased my PF from 162 to 174 (4.3 Clays, 230 HAP, WLP Primer, new Starline brass. I'd like to dial that in a little closer to 170.

Would you recommend dropping powder to 4.3 or increasing OAL to 1.23 or1.24? What are the issues involved in fine tuning via OAL vs fine tuning the charge?

If it were me, and I am by no regards an expert on the matter I would say that whichever variable you could hold to the closest tolerances would be the one to adjust.
Just my .02 YMMV

Length is for feeding, powder is for powerfactor.

+1

With Clays or other fast powders messing with oal once you have a safe load can be a very bad idea :surprise:
