like the title says i'm looking for a load for Major. I am guessing 4.1 -4.2 grains of tightgroup pushing a lead round nose should do the trick, but don't have a chrono handy.

I would have to look back in my notes, but I believe 4.1 gr with 230RNL made major in my Kimber 5". But I swithched to CLAYS and never went back. The switch to Clays seemed softer ,cleaner and less smokey, but the TG load was accurate.

4.4 gr of Titegroup for my P-14 with a 230 gr. I'll second Mark's comment of using Clays. Use less and get the same velocity with less recoil felt.

Don't take our data, though. Find or borrow a chrono and check your loads in your gun.

3.6-3.7 clays will do it. I have gone through nearly 4 lbs of it over the years...no problems with pressure or making major.
