Maybe now is a little late to be deciding this...

I'm doing the 3G at the end of this month and have been second guessing my equipment choice.

I've been planning on using my SS .45 rig as that is what I'm most comfortable with and that is the gun I've been reloading for and shooting the most. But now I'm thinking why have 10 in the mag when I can use my Sig 226 with 20+1 in 9mm...I think the Sig SCT mags are <170mm but I'll have to check...otherwise its 18 flush fit...

I'm planning on shooting tactical optics FWIW...

Equip at present is:

RR AR in 5.56 w/burris XTR
Benny Hill M1S90 12 ga.
pistol...either 1911 in 45 or Sig 226 in 9...

Maybe it is just nerves...I just looked at the courses :surprise: They look great by the way Andy et al...

I really can't wait!

Thoughts?!

Unless you shoot a lot better with the SS, I'd go 9mm if I were you, more rounds and less recoil.

I see you are shooting Tac Ops. In that case - shoot the single stack.

I am looking for any advantage I can get. Seriously though, the higher capacity 9mm would be an advantage.

How are the targets scored? 1 A, 2 on target ,or best 2 on target, major/minor PF scoring? If its just 2 on target to neutralize then go with the nine and make sure you get 2 good hits on everything. If its major/minor scoring then you have a tough decision. If your just going to have fun then use the 9 so you have less reloads to think about.

Then everyone will think I'm production shooter... <_<

It says best two on target...and 140 not 170 mag length...guess I can't read so good...

Now I'm leaning toward the 9...sorry Brian...

If there is no PF for pistol then I would run your 9. If their is PF scoring difference then, like I said, you'll have a touch choice, or you could borrow somebody's limited gun :-)

Are you offering? Nah, I couldn't do that. That's like borrowing someone's swim trunks...it just wouldn't feel right. :surprise:

...of course I'm not expecting to win...just make it 3 days without too much embarrassment... :roflol: ...embarrassment like last week at BGSL...ouch...

1. No power factor (go with the 9 mm)

2. Lots of rounds to fire (go with the 9 mm)

3. Accuracy counts. It is NOT one or 2 hits anywhere to neutralize. Two hits are required on pistol targets. There are "miss" penalties if only one round hits the target. USPSA A-B hits or IDPA 0 hits are zero down. If you hit outside that zone, C and -1 hits will cost you 0.5 seconds; D and -3 hits will cost you 1.5 seconds. (go with the 9 mm).

4. Ammo is lighter weight & cheaper (go with the 9 mm).

I don't shoot 3 gun, but I REALLY understand the scoring systems.

Thanks Linda!!

Looks like I'll be shooting 9mm!

ETA: It looks like my 20 rounders are 139 mm! I hope I don't drop mags everytime my feet move this match... :D

I'm sticking w/ my SS for this match. Of course, that's only because I'm shooting HM and I can't use my limited gun. :)

I've got a Ruger Super Black Hawk that you can borrow for the match. Very accurate! ... Yea I know, my wife calls me that all the time!
