I am going to try my first IDPA shoot this weekend. I have a XDM with its included holster and mag pouch. Are these IDPA legal? (I tried the search but didn't find anything).
Thanks
John

Probably will be OK. You can check the holster guidelines in the IDPA rules found at the IDPA website for the definitive guide: http://www.idpa.com/...uleBook2005.pdf.

I read somewhere of one of them being disallowed or penalized, then I read where somebody applied a protractor to one and found the cant angle was right at the allowable 10 degrees. Just that the two are tilted in opposite directions makes it look like more.
Nothing to worry about at a club level shoot, the ones around here are crawling with them.

Thanks, next month there is an IDPA in the morning and ICORE in the afternoon - instead of shooting both with my revolver I thought I might try the XDM as well - we will see.

Neither myself nor anyone I shoot with would say a word about it. New shooters frequently show up with somewhat-illegal gear when they start out. Holsters in particular.
And as was stated above, I don't think the XD mag carrier is actually illegal. I CERTAINLY don't believe there's a competitive advantage to using it.

The reverse if anything. I find that forward leaning mag attitude a bit slow and awkward on the draw. Use the free mag pouch (and holster) to get started in the sport, but I'm betting that if you stick around for long, in short order you're going to be upgrading the equipment.
Pride and fear are emotions, which hope for an outcome. Outcomes take your attention from the present, where the shooting happens, to the future. It is totally impossible to do anything in the future, because it hasn't happened yet. The key to shooting your best is to be present as the witness of the shooting. Do not judge, do not give yourself anything to live up to. We can only shoot as well as we have trained ourselves to shoot. To try to shoot only induces stress. Be content with your current ability. And accumulate practice to improve that ability. Consolidate, build strength where you feel weakness. We cannot raise our ability until we accept our current limitations. Practice dissolves limitations. Matches simply define where the current limits exist. The game of shooting is all about redefining our limits.
