Ok, so I looked thru the 3 pages of posts and didn't see this topic discussed.

I'm just curious of the following.

How are most using their Chrono's?
a) outdoor shooting environment?
B) indoor?
c) other?? :)

If indoor, are the ranges "chrono" friendly, how do you go about setup, etc.

I live in the Atlanta area, and while there are lots of indoor ranges around and I certainly can purchase a Chrono with IR capability, do indoor ranges allow their usage?

Are people using an "at home" method? I live in the unincorporated area of the county, and while I haven't checked on firearm discharge - which obviously might be an issue, both to the local constable and my neighbors, are there tried and proven ways of utilizing a Chrono in an "at home" environment?

Just curious.... I need to work up some loads for a 40 that I'm shooting and before I go plunk the money down on a Chrono, i'd like to know how people are using them.

Thanks in advance,
Alan

it took me a while to figure out why i was getting erratic readings while using a IR kit at our local indoor range.
the fluorescent lights in most indoor ranges will cause erroneous readings unless the sensors themselves are shielded.
I verified my findings at home where I have fluorescent lights in my garage. The IR kit would pick up rubber band shots with all the lights turned off and wouldn't show anything or some funky numbers when the lights were on.

alan,
I'm working on a collapsable roller cart for my chrono along with a push pole (roller extension pole?). I shoot up at American Classic in Gwinnett; they have no problem with me using a chrono on one of the end lanes, but I can't interfere with other shooters (hence the push pole). I'm hoping to have it done in another week or two; I'll post back if i can get it working.

We have an indoor IDPA match every tuesday night here in town. Approximately once a month, I wind up bringing my chrono/indoor skyscreens to the match. Whenver I change my load, I'll bring it with me. Whenever another shooter does, they all know they just need to drop me an email.

I set it up during the match, in the far back corner of the range. When we're finished tearing down the stages at the end of the night, I pull the tripod downrange, we shoot across it for 5 minutes, and go home. Works very smoothly. :)
God made Leftys better marksmen. It's not our fault - we're gifted.
