Dawson Basepads

So I have searched the forums and read a tremendous amount of information and I am still only getting +2 using Dawson +5 basepads.
This is on Glock 22 mags, with both #5 and #8 followers using new style and older (LE Only) mags.
What gets me is several people on the forum report +5 with no issues. I would really appreciate any help on this matter.

I have three different springs: one from the older, LE mag, the Dawson spring and the springs that come in the newer mags.
I've had the most success using the new(er) standard spring... then I can get +3 in the mag, but it won't feed correctly.
Thanks!

The Dawson directions tell you what to look for. Sometimes the follower gets caught where the mag tube end and the basepad starts. You can "round" the follower edges so it will go into the basepad- thus allowing the extra rounds. Springs can be tight when new too. I can fit 20 rounds but it's very tight and usually load up to 18 or 19 if it's not a problem for the stage.

I can get 19 in all of mine and 20 in a couple. In two of the mags that I put the Dawson pads on I could only get two. I found that at the base of the tube there were burs which would not allow the follower to go past. A little work with sandpaper on those spots to smooth them out and they now hold 19.

Try the surface on the inside of the mag itself. At the bottom of the mag there is a little "lip" on the inside of the mag that can cause it to hang up. Sand and remove the lip on the inside of the bottom of the mag and it is a smooth running mag. Done it on some mags with taylor extentions and it works 100% now. Its been a while but I believe it is in the corners at the front of the mag.

It has been a while since I had the time to work on my basepad issue.
Net result, I got more aggressive with radius-ing the follower and de-burred the inside of the mag and sure enough, I got +5 out of a new style Glock G22 mag with a #8 follower and the extended spring that comes in the pack.
Thanks again for all the advice,
Scott
