Well, I bought a new to me Model 686 and picked it up at a match today. While I was there the guys talked me into shooting the second wave of their 1800 match. I had missed the first .22 cal match but could should centerfire if I wanted.
Last night I took my red dot off of my 627. I've been developing loads and wanted to use a red dot so I could aim better for my group shootingand accuracy testing. I put a new LPT sight on the gun. Nice sight. Love the way it looks and it adjusts real well.
I know about the adjustments. LOL Since it was the first time shooting this setup I had to adjust it every end until I was finally where I needed to be.
My 627 is double action only. I need to practice more bullseye with it to get better at 25 yards. Fortunately, by the time we started timed fire I was getting 90 % of my shots on the bullseye patch. I found it easier to shoot timed and rapid fire than slow fire and my followup scores proved it.
All in all it was a humbling experience but can't wait to do it again. I think I'll add a bullseye match a month to my practice sessions.
Next time I'll be prepared with a sighted in revolver, ammo matched to it instead of my backup boxes of American Eagle that I keep in the car. I didn't think they would want me to be shooting my major cal loads in the bullseye match. I'll still shoot double action only, practice is practice and it will only help in the long run. If I get too interested I'll put the old hammer back in the 627 and shoot single action.
