Ok I'm trying to do stage design on a MAC and with everything I try to do USPSA with MAC its a pain. Anyway, I've found several targets in the warehouse but they are all a bunch of targets together. How do I pick just the one I want and use it and not the entire line of targets?

I'll have my windows here tomorrow so I can probably do it old school that way but any tricks to designing stages on a mac?

DVC is a three legged stool. Remove one leg and you're just left with a pile of sticks.

Just download, select and explode. That will give you access to individual assemblies. Grouping is a good thing and I encourage you to read up on it.

Feel free to ask for help at any time.

Jim, thanks so much that is exactly what I need.

Since I have your attention. How do you make a barracade with a port in it?

Don't know if this will help, but I assembled a collection of Sketchup props in a pistol bay (walls, targets, steel, etc.). Most of these were items collected from the online 3D warehouse, a few I modified (e.g. walls with ports). I use this as a starting point for stage design. You can download it here. Everything was done under Windows so I don't know if it is Mac friendly.

Thanks, that will help out quite a bit!

How are you guys doing the WSB with these?

I use the "export -> 2D graphic" command under the File Menu to save a jpeg file and then paste that into a Word document. It helps to turn off the "berm" and "grid" layers in the stage template that I linked to simplify the jpeg. The grid is helpful to use in a print out to follow for set-up.

Is there anyway that you can save that blank stage design backwards compatible with sketch-up 5.0?
In the dark ages here with operating systems.

Thanks,
TimE

Corey:

Get the Bianchi Barricade out of the 3D Warehouse. Explode, Draw a Rectangle on the Surface of the barricade, push/pull it to create a port. Regroup. Save.

Or just search for Bianchi Barricade with Port. I knocked it out for you.

Best regards,

Jim

 Thanks!

Do you bring up say the berm and put your stuff in there to work with or do you always start from scratch? I can't figure out the scratch part at all, I've been just bring up the berm and working it from there. Also, how do you upload stuff? I made a couple of stages and tried to upload them and it won't do it.

Pedro's idea of a grid is good, though I like to not have the grid in the finished product.

Start with the berm. It gives you a surface upon which to locate things.

All the targets, props, etc are mostly drawn from scratch. They are fairly realistic in order that they look good. I kind of faked the Texas Star and you can tell it is not detailed enough.

Everything new that I make, I put in the 3D Warehouse.

As before, let me know if you have any questions or if you need anything developed.

Jim, or anyone else, How do I get letters and numbers into google Sketch for the T1, PP1, etc.

Oh and the targets I have seem to have Xs on them when you zoom out? I like the targets though as they are on sticks and stands....
