Shot a whopping zero hit factor on an El Pres classifier stage. Yay for me. <_<
Turned up the speed way too high. 4 M's.
Still trying to obtain my first 4 (6?) Limited classifier scores to get ranked.
Only have two so far, a 70% and a 0%.
Will they actually use this humiliating 0% for my initial classification or will they drop it?

No they wont show that one. I think it has to be a 3% or higher to be counted.

Chris is right. I shot a 4 stage classifier match several months ago trying to get classified in Production. I managed to zero one stage and I'm still not classified.

If you learned something from the experience it wasn't a wasted effort.

PS: Years ago I tried toooooo hard to get a B classification. Looking back, I realize I wasn't ready to compete in B.

That is classic! I will remind you of this when you get up there in class. We will laugh even harder then!

It's better to shoot a zero than, say, a 22% like I did on my initial classification. Pulled my average down to D.

When your first starting out there is nothing wrong with a D classification. There is way more to this sport than just shooting. You have stage management and movement to worry about, safety, and things like reloading, (where do I and can i do it while moving), on and on. Having a D lets you screw up and learn from your mistakes without any pressure. "Hey i'm only a D, i'm still learning" When you figure out all the other stuff that goes along with shooting you will naturally move up in class. And you should be able to do it your first season, so don't get hung up on the letter. We had a new club that the shooters all reshot classifiers until they were C's and B's but when a match came they were all at the bottom. So enjoy being a hacker at the bottom, no pressure no hype. Because if you learn from your mistakes you will move up. Sometimes faster than you want.

Do a search on the USPSA site for some of the top shooters classification scores and you will feel better.

For example, Todd Jarret and I both have something in common: We hate classifier 03-09.

Dan, you've just have to leave the white targets alone and you'll jump up two classifications :sight: :roflol:

5/04/08 99-50 TAMPA BAY SUNCOAST PISTOL CLUB Y 2.8111 5/12/08

Had a half dozen FTEs on this one with my most expensive highly touted POS pistol, and after a minute or so I got off a 2nd shot. Finally said "oh *&^% it". I almost slung it downrange in a complete rage....naughty little wench. I went home after that stage, the first one of the day, no less. That was the last time I suffered humiliation at the hands of that little beastie. I replaced the extractor and ejector spring again, function tested it ok, then sold it. Went back to a pistol that I knew worked for me every time. Come to think of it, that was the last match I shot as well.

From the rulebook, page ii:

"No scores that calculate to less than 2 percent are used."

If you've got one less than 2%, I suggest you contact Sedro and see if it can be appealed. My 9 year old son has shot 3 zero classifiers and non of them are on his record.

It won't be counted, but it still will be listed. I think that's what people are saying...it shows up, but it won't be used to calculate an average. R,

Nope - zeros don't show up. Shot one last Spring, and it never made the list.

I haven't tried to make up for lack of sleep with energy drinks and strong coffee since. Now if I don't get a good night's sleep, I either stay home or shoot slower.

I was actually thinking about the 1-2% scores, but went back and checked and even those aren't entered. I thought I'd seen one that low listed, but not counted before. I guess I'm getting old and remembering things that didn't happen ;)
