I've been having a little fun shooting some production waiting on a new blaster and repair of an old one. I found myself shooting pretty well on the long shots, but having some issues on the shorter stuff. The deal was I really focused on the sights for the long shots and was slipping back to target focus (I'm an open guy) and was missing the short stuff pretty badly. Also, reloading with no magwell is a real treat. My eyes aren't real great and it's hard to pickup the sights fast, so my mind just said look at the target. :o I had ordered a new front, (fiber) one of Henning's new sights, for the Tanfo Stock. I intend on pushing ahead with this rig for a few weeks. By the time I get the new gun in, I'll have a few more matches in and would like to shoot a match clean with the irons. I managed a 5th out of some, not bad, shooters my first time out. Tonight though, I was not shooting the sights, and left a lot of points out there. -40 on one stage with a couple of Mikes and a NS. :) I Miked at least once on every stage. I want to get that new sight on there and shoot a couple of matches to my ability. It wouldn't hurt to get some glasses made, but that's not the real issue. It's damn hard to pickup an iron inside with the light. I want to see how a fiber helps, if any.

Dude, if the gun shoots and you didn't see a sight picture you are shooting a programmed response and not a called shot. If you are doing it with this gun you are doing it with the other guns too. That is going to kill you. Call your shots and it will be GOLD, for your ability with that gun at this time. It is a lot harder than it seems, but if you don't call the shots you are HOSED. Step back, and start over. Call every shot. Every stage I have won and every match I have won has come from points, when I shoot good points I do really well, when I don't I let everyone back into the scrap.

You have to remember I have never shot irons. It's hard when your used to going 95 to slow down to 50. :D I'll get there... Sometimes it's, Crash and Burn to Learn. That's the way I am bro. Hell you should know that by now. .. Gimme a bit and I'll get it. ;)

Sounds like to me you really did not see anything. If you truly had a target focus wouldn't you see the holes appear or not appear in the target if you didn't see the holes appear on the target you should have seen you missed if you truly had a target focus.

I sometimes have a target focus kind of looking through the sights (still see the sights but they are not clear) and can see the holes appear in the target or the bullet splatter on steel. You have to see something its when you don't see anything you get into trouble.

See what you need to see to make the shot. (no matter what that might be)

You are right in that I had no clear focus either way, I was somewhere in between. ON a positive note, all shots more than 10yds were As. :P

OH I saw that the holes didn't appear in the target, or in the wrong target it went something like... NS mike mike makeup makeup miss miss makeup hit makeup mike click out of ammo... hell with it USC. :) The bottom line is I wasn't shooting the sights on the close targets. No patients... I'll break that this week in practice and shoot better next practice match.

Thanks for kicking me in the ass guys. :)

Jim
