Lowered pistol, pointing at a flag in the middle of the course, 8 feet from your start position.
The "elbows touching side" position is no longer required.

Anybody know what to use for Non-big matches? We do monthly steel matches and no one wants to have to stake a flag out for a club match. Also, what are the rules on the safety? I've heard on or off to start.

We just paint a spot on the ground to point the muzzle at. I try to put it about 6-8ft from the box. I dont remember ever being told to put the safety on Piru, but I could be wrong....

+1 what Doug does, except we use chalk powder for the spot. I believe I was told that the safety on rimfire is not required.

We use some orange cones. Very easy to set them out.
