I decided to switch to production and a picked up a nice 5inch Custom Shop XD 9MM. I have the Area 3 at the end of July and need to get a load together. I don't think I will have access to a chrono before the match so I need some forum asistance.

I think I am going with 124's from precision Bullets and I have a bunch of Universal Clays and regular Clays from my .45 days. I would like to use these but I will buy new powder if need be. Can someone give me a load that will make minor. I am not looking for a poof load I just want to make the mark on gameday.

Thanks in advance!

GIO

I have used the same bullet before switching to the 147's. With the 147 I am using about 3.5gr's of WST.

Great choice for a Production blaster!

For my XD-9 Tactical, I recently shot the following throug my chrono on a 70 degree day:

125 grain Zero JHP
3.6 grains Clays
1.135 OAL
0.376 crimp
WWB brass
1023 fps
128 PF

I plan to increse to 3.8 grains of Clays to add a little more safety factor on the PF. If I were shooting MG 124 grain JHPs, I would add an additional grain.

I have been using Universal Clays for 9mm for the last 6 months or so and have been pleased by the results. You could probably come up with a very nice load using UC and the 124gr Precisions. My load is 4.7gr Universal Clays under 124gr MG JHP loaded to 1.130 OAL. Out of my G17 it was giving me a 133pf. With the Precisions you will probably be able to drop the powder charge a few tenths of a grain.

Yes, add a tenth of a grain. I'd only add a full grain if I were a subcontractor to NASA!
