OK I'm trying this whole new practice on 9" paper plates instead of cardboard.
Less forgiving and you must call since there is no ding !!

This was my set-up today: four 9" plates, one at 15yd., two at 25yd., and one at 40yd..
My avg. transitions were .5 to the 15, .8 to the 25's, and 1.3 to the 40, for all hits. What
should be a really great transition, a GM time ???

I also set them up in some Steel Challenge courses, which I have never tried, and have gained
great respect for the guys that shoot steel so well :surprise: :surprise: . WOW, I was humbled
by my mediocrity. When you watch Todd or Max they make it look so easy !! :goof:

Almost forgot, all plates were about six feet apart laterally in view from each other...

Lucky all the long targets in Steel Challenge are 18x24", and the plates beyond 18 yards are all 12". Try some at those sizes just to compare. It's interesting, practicing on small plates is a very good idea, but times do differ one to the other..

As for par times, figure the very top guys are running Roundabout (average plate distance: ~12 yards) in a little under 2 flat. So, figuring around .90 on the draw, they've got 4 transitions in about 1 second, or about .25 average (in reality, the pace varies some) transitions for close 12" plates. "Normal" top-10 shooters do well to run it in about 2.25-- maybe add a tenth to the draw and .30 transitions
"I am tired of all the friction between 'martial artists' and 'gamesmen' and trap shooters who don't talk to skeet shooters and IPSC guys who won't shoot steel-- Every style of shooting is fun, and whether you enjoy it or not shouldn't hurt another persons enjoyment of it."-- BE, PSBF
