Having watched the video of the Bianchi Cup I noticed that many of the shooters are using the same red dot sight that Doug Koenig used to win the match. Would someone please identify the make and model of that sight. Thanks

I think he uses a Leupold Gilmore with a tombstone reticle..

Thanks for the reply, but that's not the scope. Anyone else have an idea.

If thats not the scope, I have no clue what it is. As to the best of my knowledge, Doug has used Leupold dots only for almost 15 years now.

Just talked to George..at EGW

says DK is using the Gilmore Mover scope ( which I thought was a modified Leupold ) on top of his SmithWesson gun,

Gilmore Sports Concepts out of Tulsa..

Thanks for the replies. It is in fact the Gilmore scope and it was confirmed by Julie Goloski who also used the same scope.

The Leupold/Gilmore dot that DK uses is a special order with that reticle. I have two of thier regular red dot scopes that are very good. They hold zero and are very easy to sight in just like a regular rifle scope. They are a little on the big side but one of the best quality red dots available and not expensive.

We gave up on the Gilmore scopes a few years ago. Shooting 2 or 3 matches a month was too much for the mover knobs to handle. One year, one of us went through 3 in one week. Just happened to be the week of Bianchi. We also found them to have a good bit of parallax.

I have 3 Pride/ Fowler scopes now and have been very happy with them. Another guy has 2 and another has one. We use the Stick SHift for the mover so there is no more messing with a knob and worrying about loosing your windage zero. You can find the scopes at www.rapidreticle.com. By the way, the scopes have 4 different reticles and one of them is that same tombstone.

I wish I had of listened to Kevin's advice on the subject, but instead went the option of the Gilmore mover, sent one back for repair last december, got it back in April still not working, ordered a new one at the same time, and the horizontal windage on that is not level, it will shoot 2 inches low on the left and 2 inches high on the right and the dot has the clarity and roundness of a smashed crab, ..... Numerous emails to Gilmore here I am nearly a year later with the same problem still not fixed ...
I bought a Pride Fowler from John at Bianchi which has been mounted on top of a Stick Shift on my new 1911. Dot clarity is 1000% better.

This may sound like a dumb question but which Pride Fowler scope are you using?

Thank you.

OK, I'm confused! I'm going to the http://www.rapidreticle.com website. I'm going to products. I see the compact LED that mounts where your rear sight goes. (And I'm thinking hard about buying one of those for my G35.) I see special scopes for large caliber revolvers. I see one down at the bottom called the Special Ops Tactical on an M4 style rifle. But I don't see one called "Action" with four reticles! Is it not on the website or am I looking over it somehow?!

Thanks,

Gregg

You're not looking over it. I just checked myself and it's gone. It was there a few weeks ago. I sent John Pride an email and will let you know of the outcome.

Gregg,

The compact LED is an excellent scope for a G35 or similar application. DOT quality is good and it has an ON/OFF switch too.

This should take you to the PrideFowler Action 4 Reticle scope Click here

CNY025,

FYI there is an AP/Bianchi program at TRENTON FISH & GAME in Holland Patent, NY near Utica/Rome area.

It is there, click on the products link instead of the drop down menu. I got to it.

I am interested in their LED sight though. Looks like a Docter or Jpoint with an all the way on switch glass lense.

I think Midway has them in stock. Unless something has changed we are out of stock and I'm not sure on the next shipment, I believe John said around the end of the year.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys.

It does look nice but I think it is too big and heavy for me. 8 ounces and 33mm. I'm looking at the small one ounce types that replace the rear sight. Not for competition but for general use around my 90 acres with my .357 SIG G35. I'm going back and forth on the JP, Pride Fowler, and Burris Fast Fire.

I'll keep the larger one in mind if I decide to try something larger.

Gregg,

The compac Pride/Fowler unit that is similar to the DR, Optima & other tiny dot sights is excellent quality and has two features that the others do not have, unless the others have made changes I am unaware of.

1) The Pride/Fowler unit has a 3 position switch that affords choices. A position that is OFF. A position that is ON at brightest setting, and the other position (AUTOMATIC) would be as the other scopes of this type work. Leave it in this position and put it to sleep with hood, and remove hood and it auto adjust to light.

2) The Pride/Fowler compac unit permits you to change the battery WITHOUT removing the scope from the base/mount, i.e. it has a small trap door on the top, not battery access under the scope like some others, which the scope has to be dismounted to change batteries.

Personally I think both of these features are quite beneficial, and the scope is top quality to boot. Also, you can pick up the phone and talk to John Pride or Micky Fowler. Two of the best shooters who ever pulled a trigger, or ever will pull a trigger.

Regards,

Martin

ULTRADOT scopes are excellent. They are very popular in Bullseye Competition as having very good quality optics and a "round" dot. They come in 1 "tube or 30mm". In single DOT or multiple Dot size configuration. I think they come with Life Warranty to. I have three and have never had any problem with them. Two are mounted directly to slide of .45acp so they must be pretty durable too.

thank you for your reply!

my gunsmith is putting this matchdot (2,4,6,8 moa) these days on my gun and i´m looking forward for first testing!

do you have any informations about the parallax of this scope and the "resetting" after switching the dot-sizes?

kind regards (and sorry for my bad english..... )
