Whats a good clean power/primer combination for a 180gr bullet. I thought I read in here about someone using rifle primers in pistol loads. Whats the benefit of that? Thanks to all that commented on the dies New Dillons on order. Going to add the comp seater at a later date.

Another vote for Solo 1000. I have some Vhit sitting here too but haven't gotten around to trying it. I've read on here that Solo is as clean as Vhit and about 1/2 the price. Both are single base powders.

I like 5.0gr under Berry's 200gr SWC's or Precision moly coated 185's at 1.245". I don't know any velocity numbers though.

I'm looking for a cleaner powder myself. I use a lot of Unique, but it is dirty. I use Unique to reload 45colt, 45acp, 44spcl, 38spcl. I've got Unique that's been around for several years. Is there a cleaner powder that I could switch over too?

Try 6.2grs N340 under a 185 grs copper plated lead HP with a WLP primer. In my experience all VV powders burn cleanly.

If you like Unique, just buy some current production stuff. It is considerably cleaner than the Unique of yore.

3.8-4.0 CLAYS and 230gr. bullets.

clean and shoots very soft.

American Select, WST, Clays and VV N-310 work well for me.

I like Solo 1000 with bullets over 200 grain, at 200 grain and lower Solo 1250 is just as clean and performs very well.

+1 I only use 4.5 with molys but soft and clean 'cept for moly residue 1.245. 4.9 w/ MG JFP 1.225 and it's much cleaner all around.

Clays and WST here... my favorite load is 3.8gr of Clays under a 230gr Masterblasters moly bullet. Very clean, consistent, and no muzzle flash.
