Think I'm going to make myself a barricade for rifle practice. I want to practice shooting underneath the barricade (rifle horizonal). What's the usual dimension & location for such a port? I've only read about the drill, not experienced it in a match.

What is the typical range for such a shot? 50 yds? 100?

TIA,

E

I am actually building the same thing this weekend. At the Ironman this year we had to shoot at some steel that was about 25 yards away or so underneath a car. They where small 3-4" plates that flew off the stands when you hit them. Kind of a tough target since you have to figure where to hold since your gun is sideways. Anyways I have decided that 6-10" seems about right for shooting under a car. I will do some more measuring but I am leaning towards 8".

I played with this at 100 a couple weeks ago on an 8" plate. I decided that one of the virtues of duplex reticle was that it has essentially built-in hold points for this application. :b
