I'm gonna go w/ Max.......... I don't think he likes losing. :)

I'm also going to put my buddy and forum resident Dave Re making a solid top 10 appearance there.

The low odds are on Max or Chris - those two seem to duke it out pretty hard. There are several dark horses in the running, though, and I wouldn't count any of them out at this point...

Matt. I'll have my money on you to be the most color coordinated guy there. Nobody matches their gun to their shirt like you.

My guesses are:

Athena Lee
Doni Spencer
Kay Miculek

My first look at the stages are that it appears to be an 'accuracy' match, Max does well at these whereas I think Chris is better at the faster field courses.

Max
Chris
Henning

I would disagree on the accuracy versus speed thing after the IPSC match (Targeting Education). It was the ultimate 'accuracy' match & Chris took that one. Max just won Area 4 with overwhelming numbers. I think I'd have to toss a coin on who wins in Missoula.

Max got Chris by 100 points at Area 4. Payback time or a sign of things to come?

I gotta go with Chris...

He on a cloud I've never seen before when he won last year.

He'll want it just as bad this year.

Max will be hungry and maybe a little...driven.

There's another handful of guys you can't count out...

It was fun again. I changed something. I took the picture of the puzzle on the cardboard box, and I threw that sucker in the trash. Turned the pieces over, re-assembled them, and drew a picture of a robot picking his nose.

(Ya’ll should have seen him smoke the popper from 25 yards while driving a tractor…should have seen him calibrate steel by throwing a hammer at it. Fun.)

Whether I "do" or not has nothing to do with whether I end up in the top 10 ;) There are too many intangibles to bother with setting a goal of a finish at any certain place in the standings - its pointless. That was the point behind my "try" comment ;)

Wanted to add - cause it's not clear... - thanks for the support :)

If XRe is wearing his secret agent Matt Burkett shirt with it's hidden communicator and GPS system (must maintain constant communication with Matt Burkett) and his teeth don't fall out, he has the potential to finish in the top 16 at the very least. :P He had a fantastic finish at last years match with (rumored) very little practice. My vote is for Max and Athena with XRe not too far behind.

Picking Chris or Max to win is an obvious choice. I am thinking of a dark horse possibility that could step in and upset the obvious contenders.

I would say who I am thinking about but don't want to jinx anything ... cough *Smitty* cough, cough.

I'll go public on my prediction later... ;)

Hi everyone,
I am looking for our AZ contigency to be big this year. In the sleeper category I vote for my friend Eddie Garcia to easily be top 16 and maybe top 10. He is "only" a master, but as this is his first major and relatively unknown watch out for him. As for the match, with a bunch of our local Rio shooters going I am looking for alot of class wins.

I'm assuming, given everyone's predictions so far, that Todd and Eric aren't shooting Open...? That being the case, if this is an accuracy-intensive match, then I'd give Chris a slight edge over Max right now, considering Chris's success at the fairly technical Open championship last year and also at the Michigan World Shoot qualifier; he seems to have finally caught up that last 5% that he needed to be in the running against Max or anyone else at any major. But there's always the chance that JJ Racaza will finally take the top spot; with his more limited match schedule it's hard to predict when he'll be shooting at his best. I'd be pretty surprised if anyone else beats either Chris or Max.

Among the ladies, I wouldn't count out Lisa Munson if she's shooting Open. In any case I'd expect a really tight contest between her and Kay, Athena, and Doni; I'd hesitate to pick a favorite.

Todd is shooting Open. I don't think that changes my prediction, at this moment.

I can't really pick here. I don't think your choices are bad... I expect it'll be Athena or Kay, if I had to guess, but its hard to pick between them, at this point. Doni is certainly capable, as well... ;)
