I HAVE A BENELLI M2 WITH A 26" BARRELL. WHAT CHOKE TUBE IS BEST FOR SHOOTING #7 BIRD SHOT AT CLOSE DISTANCES TO KNOCK DOWN POPPERS & PLATES?

Improved cylinder will do the job. It works on my 21".

I agree with Dan, 90% of the time IC is in my 21" M1. When there are lots of close stationary clay birds, I use Skeet choke. Very occassionally for longish 25-30 yards poppers or stationary clay birds I use Mod.

Pattern your gun!!!!!!!! shoot at 10, 20, & 30yds. you'll get a good feel for what the different chokes will do in your gun at those distances. Its time consuming but it is valuable info.

I've found that for my Benelli, CYL gives me about 1.25" for every yard, LT MOD gives me just under and inch for every yard. It also pays to shoot poppers or plates at the distances mentioned, because different chokes will be used if you have poppers, plates and clays to be shot in the same COF. For me 15yds is about the most for a plate with CYL, but i'll still shoot it to 20yds if its just clays. Pattern your buckshot and shoot slugs with different chokes as well, you'll be suprised at the variations you get and again,.....its good info to have.

I have never had the skeet choke out of my gun. Use heavier shot as you get further out.

Merlin, the previous information goes for you to!!!!!!!!!! :P I got tired of carrying different shot sizes, 8's, 6's, and 4's for different situations. its easier to just put more shot on the target, and just carry one shot size.............7.5's ;) Although a very good friend of mine, uses one choke for everything, LT.MOD......that one or IC, will do for 90 -95% of your shots, there are times when using your choke wrench is prudent, unless your choke is silver soldered into your gun.

hope to see you and Benny in Missouri, maybe if it rains you can talk Benny into stayin' if there are more people raggin' on him!!!!!!!!

I followed KurtM 's advice and installed a Briley Lt Modified on my 21inch M1S90 and it has done everything it has been asked to do, including a little 5 stand... regards Les
